(Pending CPE points) Introduction The high visibility of skin diseases increases the likelihood of stigmatization. The effect of skin diseases on patients’ lives is now known to be comparable to many “more serious” medical disorders. Knowledge of mind-body interactions and interventions can help to improve patients’ skin conditions and ultimately their quality of life. Dermatology nurses play a vital role to facilitate healing of people with skin conditions, applying motivational interviewing in the process of care can help people with skin conditions examine the discrepancies between their current circumstances/behaviour and their values and future goals. The workshop will be conducted by the Scottish Dermatological Nursing Society’s dermatology nurse specialists. The workshop will focus on holistic approaches to caring for patients with skin conditions, and including, measurement tools, simple psychosocial interventions and when to refer patients to other services. Who is it for? The one day master class is specifically aimed at health care professionals and with a minimum of three years post registration experience and an interest in dermatology.
